I had a craving for these yesterday, and kinda made the sauce as I went. Good thing it was yesterday, and I still remember! Sauce 1st:
make a roux with 3 tbs butter and 4tbs flour to it, add- 1 8oz can tomato sauce(I used Spanish-style), 1 tsp cumin, 1 wooden spoon of chili powder, few dashes garlic powder, 3/4 of the can with water, 1/4 of the can with half n half, and a wooden spoon of tomato paste. Bring to a boil over med-high heat. Salt/pepper if needed. It will thicken up nicely.
For the filling: brown 1lb ground beef, 1 can diced green chilies, salt, pepper,(few dashes to taste) and 2 wooden spoons of refried beans.
Place 2-3 tbs of filling on 10″tortilla, roll up and place seam side down in a casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 30 min. Uncover, top with cheese and place under the broiler for a few minutes to melt. This ended up tasting like something from a GOOD Mexican restaurant! (as opposed to the BAD ones! LOL)

My monitor has nose prints all over it from trying to smell the delicious aroma of those burritos. We love Mexican and these burritos appear very easy to prepare.
WOW, I am salivating like a dog right now and about to start humping my screen! Ha-ha! I am like Pavlov’s dog, I know when I open your website that i am going to be suddenly struck with hunger and my mouth is going to water for your tasty treats!
I need smell-a-vision or scratch and taste for this! Super easy recipe, I can’t wait to try these!!
Good thing I can cook, cuzzzz I am also making these this weekend. My husband is going to want to marry you Michelle! lol
“Wet Burritos” huh? I think these deserve a better title…like Holy Cow Burritos. This sounds wonderful. Not too sure about the wooden spoon measurement (I have a zillion wooden spoons in a zillion sizes). These would sure hit the spot this weekend.
So I made these tonight. I should have just followed your directions for the first time
I made mine like this
We still ate them and they were ok, just ok……
one potato, diced
2 carrots, diced
1/4 red onion, diced
all your seasonings, I added cilantro.
I cooked all that together with shredded rotisserie chicken and 1/2 bottle dark beer until the beer cooked out.
I misread your sauce mix – otherwise I think it would have been amazing. I used 8 oz of tomato paste by mistake. YIKES. It was ok, but it was wayyyyy too thick. I cooked black beans and rice as a side and topped the burritos with avocado. I wish I had made the sauce right
Oh no, Angel, yes- I can imagine the tomato paste would be rather thick in those proportions! You will have to try it this way and let me know!
i am soooo excited to make these tonight. going to the store now!!!!
loved um. great. awesome!!!! a little suggestion??? well next time i make them i will add died tomatoes inside the burrito, maybe some japs. they were delicious but i need spicy!!! thanx for sharing with me. oh and i read ur 20questions…great job
