venison chilli

I never had venison until about 4 years ago when my then boyfriend (now hubby) took me to a superbowl party, and it was there that I first tried venison. A friend recently gave us some ground venison so this is what I did with it:

First brown some ground venison-or turkey-or beef-or chicken-or soy product…ya get my drift….

now add some chopped onion. ( I like the red ones)

and green pepper…

now: there are two ways you can do this:
1) add 2-15oz cans of “chilli ready” chopped tomatoes
OR 2 15oz cans of plain tomatoes WITH 1tsp garlic pwd/1/2tsp sugar,1/2tsp oregano,1 1/2 tsp cumin,and 1/4c chili powder
to that, add 1 can each drained and rinsed pinto and kidney beans. I personally added extra chili beans because my daughter eats them like candy.

serve with a nice dollop of sour cream and some shredded cheese…. ENJOY! :)

  • Incomplete or not, just wanted to say the side bar to the right is a much easier read now!

Interesting version of chili! I used to eat venison as a kid because my uncle was a hunter and he would always bring us fresh meat, but I haven’t had it in years. Where can I buy some? I have never even thought to look for it before.
