Have you ever had this? It’s a German noodle/dumpling- buttery chewy and absolutely delicious!
4 c flour
1tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
mix together until it’s elastic. I did a sink full of dishes while my friendly mixer did the work… (yes-you read right- I do my own dishes- no dishwasher in this ol house unless it’s my hubby!)
Now, just put your colander or spazle maker over some boiling salted water and push the gooey dough through!
watch out if it’s left unattended!

So cute!
I have always wanted to try this!
Now I want a spatzel maker!!!
Wow this looks great. What a nice simple dish. And it looks like it might be easy to make.
I received your package today. Thanks so much for the sazon!
What an excellent post (I love the last photo), and thank you for the "how to" photos…they really help.
My Mother used to talk about spatzel but I never had an opportunity to try it. Now that I see how easy it is, I am going to give it a try. Thank you!
I thought I commented on this yesterday. Oh well, I'll try again. Here goes:
You would think that I, of 3/4 GERMAN ancestry, would have had this and made this before. I've done neither. I would love to try this recipe but, although I ask for one every year, I do not have a Kitchen Aid. How long do you think it would take to mix by hand with my hand held beater? Also, do you have any suggestions as to what to serve this with? Thanks Michelle!
Hey again Michelle. I just wanted to add that I really like those countertops. Are those silstone? Do they have a coating so they aren't porous? We were going to get silstone when we remodeled our kitchen but went with hi def because we went over budget replacing our roof
You can use a hand held mixer, mix for about 5 minutes or so… I made em by hand once. What a workout!
Spaetzle is wonderful! I've never had home made-think I need to go out and buy a spaetzle maker!
the countertops are granite, they were much needed as my old counter was from 1956 and falling apart! I don't think this one will fall apart! We got a good deal from a local guy, there are TONS of granite places around here so it's only a few hundred more than a top quality synthetic.
I make spaetzle and put into my potato soup. Wonderful and everyone loves it. My mom and grandmother did this. We also put some in the froui of blackberry cobbler. mmmm ! good!!
OOPS! Fruit, not froui !
