stepping out, stepping in

I’ve been gone for a while, I’ve been in a season of decision making, prayer and probably too much thinking. Situations happened that catapulted me out of my norm, and shifted me back to a hope that had dissipated years ago. That hope, soon became a reality and stepping into the reality of a hope can be scary and intimidating, no matter how you perceive it. Stepping out of the norm of routine, familiarity and ease, and into something different requires much more than walking away, signing a paper and ordering some books.  It’s times like these, when I make […]

10,000 steps and other journeys

I try to take 10,000 steps a day.  there are days when it’s an easy task. Then, there are other days where each step is a journey. Days when my patience is tested, I grow weary and weak from the challenges and obstacles that lay in the path of life. You see, it’s not only in the physical steps that we move forward. It’s in the spiritual steps that we really get somewhere. The days when you realize how you have moved beyond periods of life, or the days when you realize that you haven’t. I have crushing days, […]

The New Spring

I use every Springtime as a sort of “do over” for New Years. A time to clear out, not only excess clutter form my home, but also my life and my mind.   Every year, I cut out processed foods, meats, dairy, and sugars. In addition, I cut out processed society, too. I eliminate the endless chatter of newsfeeds and social media sites. The first few days are always a challenge. You don’t realize how much of a habit it is to just pick up your device and do a quick scroll. That quick scroll usually ends up several minutes. […]

Sunday school 101

For a while now, I have been the director of Children’s ministry at a small local church…  which basically means  I’m a Sunday school teacher and jr youth group leader, and I get to write my own curriculum, and lessons. Of course, I could always use a pre written curriculum, but developing my own has not only helped the children grow spiritually. but it has also helped me to see scripture on their level as well.  Sometimes, opening our eyes with childlike faith is all we need to see the true glory of God. I had pondered sharing some of it […]

2014 flashback

Here is a slight recap of a few events of the past year, I say slight because I took close to 8,000 photographs. A majority were for work, but on occasion I had my DSLR out for family and fun. This year, it’s going to be less work and more play for my camera. Better yet, more work and more play. The best play is work, and the best work is play. Enjoy the moments before they become memories. The picture above was somehow taken by me, and  I am pretty sure it was taken with my  iPhone. Because I […]

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!   I haven’t missed one day of posting all year. I’m starting off with a good start, eh? Every year I intend to post more, write more, photograph more, and offer more giveaways. And, then… life starts to happen. You know, laundry, clutter, jobs, weeds, kids, husbands,(wait. make that singular husband. I only have one) dogs, birds, chickens… ahhh life. 🙂 I’m also pretty sure every year I say I’m going to post here more .. well, this year I’m not going to say that. I’m going to do that. So, in accordance with the calendar flipping […]

summer stuff

(sponsored post) Here we are full force into summer… in all it’s sweaty glory. This summer has been a lot different than previous summers in the fact that despite the heat and humidity, my daughter wants to go outside (YAY!) Yep, we have had bike rides to water parks…which meant sunblock and sweat: This is the before pic: You know that sunblock/sweaty feeling? Yep… and it was only 10:30am. We were supposed to go out to lunch to a small sandwich shop, but they were closed for vacation- so we ended up going to a Thai/Sushi restaurant. Remember: sunblock & […]

November things

We just got into November, and now it’s the home stretch. Are you like me and wondering… what on earth happened. Something must happen to days as you get older. They are no longer a full 24 hours as you age. I’m convinced of it. There is some scientific time warp that happens as we age, that makes days fly by and our boobies sag. Because the holidays never came up this quick when I was a kid. A day was a week and a week was a month and a year was a decade. These days, a day is […]
